Hello, I’m Madeline.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Associate with a Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (with a concentration in Marriage and Family Therapy) from Sam Houston State University, supervised by Shaunnika Green, LPC-S and Jennifer Reeves, LMFT-S.
So, you have decided to search for a therapist. Take a deep breath. I am glad you are here. I know firsthand how difficult the search for a therapist can be. I am going to answer a few questions that you may be thinking. Why should I be YOUR therapist? Do I really know what you are going through?
About Me
I have been (and am in) therapy and two of my passion areas are boundary setting and maternal mental health. Weird combination, right? But they are very related. Growing up, I was told to “be respectful” and “what we say goes.” This environment created a people-pleaser and someone who was afraid to tell others “No.” Through my own therapy, I have a greater realization for the appreciation of boundaries as a form of protection. In that same vein, I have seen how poor boundaries can easily create birth trauma (and other postpartum mental health issues), as my twin sister was forced into a “C-section,” despite her verbal wishes. This experience caused post-partum depression for a year after the baby’s birth. Maybe poor boundaries did not affect your birth experience, but they are impacting your life. Together, we can learn ways for you to take back your power, whatever that looks like!
About My Specialties
My areas of focus are women’s issues (such as low self-esteem, people-pleasing, and boundary setting), women of color experiencing maternal mental health challenges (for example, antepartum and postpartum depression and anxiety), and couples counseling (which may look like: increasing effective communication, rebuilding trust, and enhancing the overall relationship). I believe in using various therapeutic modalities and use an eclectic treatment approach, which is specifically tailored to my client’s personality, goals, and needs.
I know that life can be hectic, so I offer virtual and in-person appointments, with evening and daytime availability. Contact me today to schedule your complimentary 15-minute consultation.
